Yona Yodwa

Company profile

Jane, Agnes and Emmarie, work together creating unique and special objects from material. Yona Yodwa in Zulu means ‘’only one’’ which describes our approach to the handbags that we make. The venture unfolded when Emmarie started salvaging old pieces of material. We started to stitch up these pieces of material into clutch, evening and shoulder bags. Emmarie provides the material for Agnes who is a seamstress by trade and to minimise travelling, she works from her home in Soweto. Emmarie then buys back the bags which have been completed. There are also plans to make scatter cushions, patchwork throws and conference bags. The material is used in a creative manner trying to minimise waste.
