INTRODUCTION

iWASTE was born out of an absolute passion for what we do, and what we could achieve for the people around us and in our own lives.

Our directors have years of experience in IT and Marketing at various Corporate Companies. Through the years we came across old store rooms and landfill sites full of redundant Electrical and Electronic equipment. Well, we decided to start cleaning up.! The rest is history.

With the environment as our main priority, we are continually searching for new and more efficient ways to reduce electronic waste and to maximize the recovery of valuable and useful materials that they contain. We always strive to do the job in the most environmentally sensible manner.

iWaste encourages the general public to responsibly recycle old and used electronic equipment. We are always searching for ways to promote and educate people on the importance of responsibly recycling end of life electronics and the effects of these electronics on the environment. WHAT IS E-WASTE

Electronic Waste or E -Waste – is the term used to describe old, end-of-life electronic appliances such as Computers, Laptops, TVs, DVD players, Mobile Phones, Mp3 players etc.
While there is no generally accepted definition of e-waste, in most cases e-waste comprises of relatively expensive and essentially durable products used for data processing, entertainment in private households and Telecommunications in businesses.

Public perception of E -Waste is often restricted to a narrower sense, comprising mainly of end-of-life information, communication and consumer electronics. However technically, electronic waste is only a subset of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
According to the OECD any appliance using an electric power supply that has reached its end-of-life would fall under WEEE

OUR RECYCLING AND RECOVERY PROCESS

Inspect and Sanitize:

Visually inspect each unit for hazardous substances, remove and sanitize before further processing.

Data Destruction:

Data on all devices are destroyed

Recover:

The electronic equipment is manually dismantled and separated into different commodities (Metals, Plastics and PCB’s)

Recycle:

Usable commodities will be resold into manufacturing sector

Hazardous Substances:

Disposed at registered hazardous facility
