Bamboo is the most eco-friendly, sustainable and renewable flooring solution available on the market, with an almost "zero" carbon foot-print. Moso Bamboo has an exceptionally high carbon conversion rate - it sequesters up to 70% more carbon dioxide, and produces up to 35% more oxygen, than hardwood forests. The rhizome root system also binds soil more effectively preventing erosion.
Regeneration: Moso Bamboo can be harvested without the need to replant, hence there is no deforestation - and the ecological balance remains intact. A Moso Bamboo forest is of mixed age between 1 to 5 years, and the optimum age to harvest Moso Bamboo is 5 years - therefore in a sustainably harvested forest, only the 5 year growth, or 20% of the forest is cut annually, and therefore 100% of the forest can be harvested sustainably in a 5 year period.
